Can you find me a campsite?

Hi there MN campers! Here's your mission, should you choose to accept it.

We're looking for a quiet campsite near to a beach in West or South Wales. We loved the Gower but weren't mad about the site we stayed on (really sludgy ground) and quite fancy Hillend due to its proximity to a great beach but they don't take bookings and Cheshire to South Wales is a bit of a gamble if it fills up.

We need something simple, not regimented where we can amble to a great beach and generally relax.

We do not require clubhouses, pools etc.

Any suggestions?

You need uk campsite really for this.

There's a nice one in cardigan (the caravan and camping one) but it does need a car to the ebach; however if youre liking basic sites, consider joining them as you will get a book of loads upon loads of sites

there is one in the timesonline guide to the best 20 campsites in the uk. Gower was listed as having one of the top twenty.

Thanks for the replies. I notice that Hillend is on that 'Cool Campers' guide. I just wish they took bookings.

I know s,mugmum, its not that far from here but the no gurantee is too offputting for us. Would upset the boys too much if we were out of luck.

We've found that the closest sites to the beach get booked up first. They're also often nowhere near as good as sites slightly inland.

We've just booked here for May Bank Holiday. It has underfloor heating in the shower blocks!! It looks a fantastic site and there are loads of lovely beaches just a short drive away.

When are you wanting to go?

You could always try Hillend first, and if they're full go for one of the slightly more inland sites. This one is pretty nice.
