We went to Scotts farm at East Wittering, near Chichester last year and will definitely go there again. It was a larger site than we usually go for and we were almost put off by the picture on the website of acres of caravans but it wasn't as bad as it looks. There were actually several fields to choose from and we had loads of space round us and didn't feel crowded in at all even though it was August. You can choose where to pitch which is always a bonus as far as I'm concerned and the showers etc are lovely. There is a kids play area for 12 and unders and a separate field for walking dogs.

It's a ten minute walk to the shops and beach (which is sandy when the tide is out) and if you go to West Wittering just along the road the beach is absolutely fantastic. There is a site along there as well but we rejected that one as our tent was just too big for their marked pitches and we couldn't afford to pay for two.

I think there is a campsite at Sheepcote Valley which is East Brighton, very near the Racecourse and not far from the Marina and Kemptown.

here is some info. I don't know what the actual site is like as I was brought up in Brighton so have had no need to camp there but there are some reviews on this link (I haven't read them). However, I used to play by the racecourse and in Sheepcote valley as a child and it's a nice spot with seaviews. It's very easy to get to the touristy bits of Brighton from there. HTH.
