Hello - I really need your help MN! We are based in Scotland and decided a summer holiday this year was out - as 'summer' in scotland looms I am becoming very keen to escape for a couple of weeks. We are both teachers so can get away from 26th June, we obviously want a cheapish holiday, in France. i have camped lots but never with my 3 kids - I would like a holiday where the tent is ready there for you, pool with slide / or lake with slide. Good things for the kids to be entertained - possibly a kids club. My guys are aged 5, 4 and 14 months - can this be done!!!! We did a gite last year but its too expensive and was hard work for us keeping them entertained all of the time. Thanks so much!!

canvasholidays.co.uk are brilliant, we are just about to book for a mobile home holiday in Brittany (no tents as I will be HUGELY pg and will need a loo within staggering distance. Their website has customer reviews and very clear details on what sort of sites they are, eg quiet, busy, best for littlies, best for teenagers etc.

Good luck

Thank you!!! I will be on it in my lunch hour - I know so many people who love camping with kids, just need to talk DH into it!!!

We went to Cornwall camping last summer, and the only thing that we didn't enjoy was the putting up/packing up of the tent.

Camping with DCs is great fun, ours are 5, 5 and 6 and they had a ball.

Can recommend a canvas-holidays type too. If you go before the English school holidays, you'll get a great deal. We always have a mobile home, really because it's easier to have our own bathroom/loo, so technically not camping but close enough

Check the various companies for the kids club start dates and the lower age limit. I think Canvas start at 4yo, other companies won't take them until 5yo.

canvas holidays recommendations from here too.

We did it with 3 month old plus 3 and 5 years without issue, and still use them.

must add that it has always been in a mobile though. Tenting for us is just for the UK. We like to have a bit of luxury on our summer hols

I am soo excited about the holiday, we are being naughty and taking the DDs out of school for it, but only because if we wait for the summer hols I will be too pg to be allowed on the ferry

We were planning on using a tent before we realised quite how far along I would be by then, they look really lovely and well equipped. Also this year all 3 DDs are old enough to to go the kids clubs together

Enjoy!

bratnav, were we chatating the other day about your holiday plans? Glad you got something sorted

bratnav · 24/03/2009 19:00

Thanks Chippy, we gave in to what was probably inevitable and are going in June.

WentworthMillerMad · 25/03/2009 16:20

Oh thanks - will look at the mobile homes, maybe more realistic for us - anyone got any favourite sites in france - flexible where we go
