I think I need to get onto this. We'd begun to be 'Europe campers' having had just one too many 'English summers'- but the Euro has foiled us, so heigh ho, back to the overcrowding and 4 quid a shot seaside field carparking.

So where shall we go I ask?

I don't need discos and swimming complexes. I don't want static caravans with the waste lasn out the back as a campsite.

I do want hot showers and would very much like a washing up area!

I would also like walking distance to the beach, tbh. OR a nice paddling river would do.

We went to the Dart River Country Park a couple of years ago which was great but expensive.

How about a pitch on a real working farm with access to house shower/washing up facilities only 2 miles from beach in cornwall?? Oh and river and lake v close...??? Basically my sister is an organic farmer in cornwall who has a working farm (meat and veg - suplies Abel and Cole) and allows people to pitch their tent in a field next to farmhouse. She has 3 children and so always company for other children. V safe and great shower/drying room if needed. She is not a 'site' though... Just outside Perranporth (Cornwall). Close to Newquay airport/fistral beach as well as much nicer (IMO) beaches at perranporth.

I've booked at Norden Farm in Dorset. It's a working farm but has all facilities. You can even catch a steam train to the beach!

How about Eweleaze near Weymouth, I've been there and its nice. Private beach just below the campsite. No discos or caravans.

Showers can be a bit hit and miss on the heating side of tings though and I don't thin there's a washing up area.
