Hi

we have booked (on a whim!) this campsite for 2 weeks in August, has anybody been, is it ok?

me me me !

We went last year it is lovely, the pool is great with a large one covered if it neeeds it, the restaurant is fine too. fantastic views over the Loire, close to Saumur and the huge E'Leclerc is fab too.

if you have ehu then get an extension lead though as we had to get an extra one - it was at least 30metres to the nearest ehu point.
My review is on ukcampsing and it's ivykates's favourite site near there too. I am very but we are heading further south this year.

any questions then please ask!

It is one of my all time favourite, lovely site and lots to do in the area.

As lucycat says the E'leclerc is good to for stoocking up on food after you have been out for the day.

Samur is a lovely town with a castle and is twinned with my home town. The cafe's in town are also good.

Lucycat - we are off further south this year - well starting at Folkstone on the train and driving from calais to barcelona.... So do wave if you spot us!

Where are you going?

Lucycat · 07/02/2009 13:41

ahh I know where you live now ivykaty!
We are headiing to the Dordogne for 2 weeks, so not nearly as far south as you! then just over a week in the Loire and a few days in the North before using the tunnel to get home.

this is our main site in the Dordogne We didn't want anything too big or Englishy.

Are you camping in Barcelona?

Ivykaty44 · 07/02/2009 14:51

That site loooks good in the dordogne.

I am lying home from Barcelona - there is a campsite I like just 30 miles north (actually in france) between Perpignone (sp?) and the coast. We stayed there about 4 summers ago for 5 nights and it is a lovely site and has v.good restaurants in the village. So hope to go back there - we will be able to cycle to the coast from there.

So possibly just one night near to barcelona.

i am actually flying out to barcelona for easter and then we are driving back to Dover, so will spend some time in the city then (will be careful as there are apperently lots of pickpockets)

Think we will come back at easter via La Rochelle and the island - hire bikes and cycle round
