Woo Hoo my sil will be so proud of me.

We are going to Hurley Riverside Park near Henley to a ready tent. So we just need to pitch up with our sleeping bags. It will give us the taster we need to see if we love it or not.

Enjoy! We're trying to get back into camping this year. It's loads of fun. DO you have DCs? I tried to get a look at your profile - LOL at your piccie!

Lucycat · 04/02/2009 18:12

ooh how exciting! It's difficult to imagine camping with these temperatures at the moment! We don't 'do' snow here, but it's blardy chilly.

Nice curtains on those canvas tents btw

Flutterbye · 04/02/2009 19:55

We're going to Hurley in early May Bank Hol, with a group of families, we do it each year, it's only about 20 mins from where we live. Didn't know they had Ready Tents, will peruse them! Site's nice and big/spread out, think they've improved their toilet blocks, was awoken by Heathrow flights coming in last time at 5am, soon got used to that! Good walk along the river there.

Fimbo · 05/02/2009 11:05

See you there Flutter! Ready tents are new for this year. It was as cheap as chips for the week. Have heard mixed reviews of the site.

Jaamy - yes I have a dd (10) and ds (5) my sil has been trying to get me into camping for years. My dd camped out with her for a night last year and loved it.

The kids will love it and you might quite like it too! Sounds like you've picked a good site for your virgin experience! Have loads of fun.

Now, am off to find a good site oop north for May...

Fimbo · 06/02/2009 12:26

will there be a plug somewhere so I can dry my hair?

OP posts:
Flutterbye · 06/02/2009 15:27

probably has got elec hookup for appliances, I think there are hairdryers/blowers in blocks anyway, can't remember...just be scruffy for your hols like me, only bothers me when we go off site into a proper town/attraction and I feel a scruff.

Fimbo · 06/02/2009 16:19

Oh gawd never. I have terrible terrible hair.

OP posts:
Flutterbye · 06/02/2009 17:20

As the description says it has a fridge so it should have sockets for your hairdryer, etc.

Fimbo · 07/02/2009 22:20

Sorry Flutter I should have realised

we go camping alot with my 2 DC(have been going since DD2 was 1). the DC will love it.

Camp sites up north... can tell you which to avoid. Lakeland Haven worse site I've ever been on.

my DC love it so much took sleeping bags on hols 2 weeks ago to center parcs so they could pretend they were camping.

Fimbo · 07/02/2009 22:46

Thanks Mrs P.

My dc are both outdoorsy types, they will both love it. Me on the other hand..............

MrsPurple · 07/02/2009 22:55

I admit I was a bit sceptical but it is great fun. We are even thinking of back packing round europe when kids get older.

My two are still only 3 and 5. I'm not really outdoorsy type, would love to be .

We took the plunge after looking at price to stay in Torquay for a weekend and pricing up camp stuff. Camping stuff was still £50 cheaper, so if we didn't go again we'd still saved money.

If you do like it try ebay for stuff (the shops) as you can get some cracking bargains.

Fimbo · 07/02/2009 23:09

Tbh I can't believe what we are paying for a week. At the price it will be a fab taster because we don't have our own stuff [yet!]

frazzled74 · 09/02/2009 14:53

is Hurley riverside park accessible by public transport? Ilike the look of the ready tents.

Fimbo · 09/02/2009 16:41

I wouldn't know Frazzled, Flutter would probably. Or you could phone them on 01628 823501. I guess a long as you could get to Henley there would be a local bus or a taxi?

They have ready tents at Sandyballs which we tried to book, but I think you need to get in quickly with them.
