Want to do France and Italy, and Spain/Germany in the summer hols-help me!

I want to take 5 y/o dd and myself on a bit of a road trip with the bikes over the summer. We can go for 2-3 weeks, and dd was so receptive to Italy last year that I want to have a week in each country to give her a bit of variation.

I am a camping novice, so need advice on:

Which tent to get (it is just me and the dd, I would ideally like one with two bedrooms so we can sleep in one and stash the stuff in the other, but it isn't imperative)

Some good campsites in France (first stop), Italy (second stop), and whether I should do Spain or Germany as the third stop.

Thanks guys!

Are you cycling between sites? sorry i couldn't quite understand....

What sort of sites would you both like? busy with pools or smaller municipal ones?

I'd opt for a popup type if you were doing lots of one nighters, or soemthing like a vango venture.

This is quite a good website for French sites, although the reviews tend to be in Dutch! here

Hey! No, sorry-we will camp for 7 days each time at the same site, and then whilst there then swim, cycle, eat .

Thanks Lucy

I think you tend to find that to get 2 bedrooms - ideally vis a vis then you have to go for a 6 berth. You could fit all your stuff in a pop up from Decathlon and then have another for all your stuff, but then you don't get much headroom if you are camping for the week....but they are literally up in 2 seconds.

We use two of the 2 seconds XL here for our overnight stops and a tarp inbetween them if we want extra shelter from the rain sun.

If you are taking bikes - well swizterland has a hugh cyling network and you can cycle between hostels and campsites and then back again. Which maybe fun.

There routes are graded and very well layed out - apparently.

Have camped in Swt - very pleasant on the way through to Italy.

let me go and see if I can find the stuff about the cycling - i will return

Tuscany has great camping sites and lovely routes in the "pineta" where you can cycle safely (in general, cycling in Italy can be hazardous as drivers are horrible. But there are areas with cycling lanes etc and where it is safe). Principina a mare could be a good place. (the website is in italian, haven't found many in english)
