Camping & Hiking @ 19 weeks, and a 10 hour flight!!

Hi all

Going to my brothers wedding on 29 April, but just found out I am pregnant (very unplanned) and will be 19 weeks by that point.

I'm worried about the 10 hour flight. Also before the wedding we are having a big family get together week and will be hiking and camping all week.

Love hiking and camping, that's not a problem, although am worried about how many times a night i'll need to get up to pee - and how big I'll be.

Any thoughts?

Bumping for you.

I think you will probably be alright. You'll just be going into 2nd trimester, which is normally the easiest. Even if you get really bad morning sickness ( I did) it usually abates by 14 weeks (17/18 in my case).

You won't be that big - you will be in a size larger jeans, or in the very comfy early stages of maternity jeans.

You might be needed to pee more, but that doesn't kick in massively until you get much bigger and there is more pressure on your bladder.

All that exercise will be fabulous for pumping oxygen to your LO - he or she will be a super brainy baby!

If I was planning a trip like this during a pregnancy, I would probably have done it around this time.

So well done you for your perfect timing!

I can't help with the flight query, but speak to your midwife AND the airline, as they may stipulate that you have a letter from your doc/midwife to say that you're fit for flying-double check this with the airline aswell. I camped through most of my 1st pregnancy, but I suffered from restricted bladder volume from 4 weeks-nothing to do with size, etc... but just needed the toilet constantly!! Which is amusing in the middle of the lakes up on the Crinkles!! LOL!! I'm on my 2nd pg now, and as with my 1st, have the same bladder prob!! I'm normally once a night, but sometimes twice (depending on how much I've drunk over the whole day!!) I'm not a fussy person with where I wee!! At then end of the day, if I've gotta go, I gotta go!! So just go outside the tent-obviously a distance away!!
