Campsite where you hire a tent?

We would like to try camping but don't want to buy a tent (yet). Are there sites where you sleep in a tent (not caravan) that is provided? Or have I just made that up?

Preferably Isle of Wight, or the UK at least.

Key camp and euro camp run this kind of holiday not sure if they do it in the uk. Try googling them and see what you come up with.

Nodes Point (Park Resorts) on the Isle of Wight have ready erected tents.

Unity Resort in Somerset have some. They are small, but near facilities and [whispers] they have their own tap inside.

Not sure about tents, but you could try googling sites with yurts or teepees (tipis). There are some really lovely ones about.

We took DS to Jersey camping last summer and went for a pre-pitched as we'd no idea if he'd like it, was BRILLIANT. We went to Rozel camping park, pretty sure they have a website, and they booked the ferry for us too!

Oh thanks everyone! DD saw camping on Peppa pig and is dying to try. We thought sure, we'll have a go but don't want to invest in a tent in case we all hate it. Will look at your suggestions!

I remember you saying your twins were in a bed from 4 months. I know you said you used a bedguard in the caravan but did you use one at home aswell? I am assuming at 4 months they weren't able to get in and out of bed by themselves

Yes, I used bed guards at home. Twins were in a bottom bunk with two bedguards on which ran the length of the bed - so effectively a huge cot.

For us it was a good financial/space solution

How old were they when you took the guards off?

The nodes point site is nioce; i am not keen on the 'facillities' (OTT for us) but if you want a nice beachside site with a great view, helpful staff and the rest then I would seriously recommend it! There's also (or there was anyway) a fab restaurant just on the beach there, worth a visit.

Christchurch Campsite in the Forest of Dean also has a few ready erects (they were new in ast year), a nice site, and Sandy Balls in the New Forest.
