Fierbois in the Loire Valley. Anyone been?

I've just booked this, so if you had a horrible time there, please don't tell me!!

We went to La garengoire last year, which was lovely but too long a drive. And Brittany is always risky weather-wise, so we picked Fierbois.

I have two teenagers, and I'm going for the first fortnight in July.

Please all tell me that it's fabulous and perfect for teenagers!

We have been twice! The last time our children were 13, 11, 8 and 4, in 2006. It is quite busy, but not in an over the top way - there is a good bar and quite a lot going on - don't know if there's anything specific for older teenagers, like a disco. My daughter liked swimming in the lake, and you can hire pedalos and there is also a zip wire course. I was half considering using it as a stop over ourself this year - would definitely return. The reception is also very well staffed and helpful - can't think of any major negatives unless you want a very quiet site - only slight problem is that it is quite a drive to any attractions but if you want to spend a lot of time on site I would think it would be ideal. Any other questions, just ask and I'll try to dredge up the answer.

What a relief! When we were at La Garengoire, we hardly left the site - we couldn't bribe or drag kicking and screaming persuade the kids to leave the table tennis shed.

All the reviews talk about a great restaurant in the neighbouring town. Is it walkable?

What's the on-site restaurant like?

Sorry - have hardly been on here! The nearby village is walkable - although I have to say we have not walked it! You can hire bikes from the site as well. We have only got pizzas from the restaurant, which were fine - the menu looked ok when we went but we rarely go to restaurants when on holiday becuase 2 of ours eat adult meals and it's too dear! Also ds2 isn't very into food or sitting still so it can be rather a lot of money for not much enjoyment. It is the sort of site which kids want to stick on, so that's ok! We went to a few chateaux - Amboise, Chenonceau, Azay le Rideau, which we enjoyed, but the kids would have been quite happy to stay put! Loches is also a very nice little town nearby with a chateau and lots of restaurants and a good market.

Haven't been to Fierbois but have been to another site in the Loire valley - we really enjoyed it but the weather was no better than the UK last year....only one really wet day but only one day when it was really hot enough to sit by the pool - so although we preferred the site to La Garangeoire, we are going to La G again this year to (hopefully) get more reliable weather...
