Any recommendations? I have been to pinewoods in norfolk which was great, but would prefer somewhere a little less regimented.

Looking for (in order of importance!) Obv am not expecting all of these things but to give you an idea:

  1. In the south-ish. We are SW London - 3-4 hours is the longest I want to be trapped in the car for...
  1. Close to beach
  1. Not too big/marked pitches etc.
  1. Campfires allowed
  1. Not too raucous (toddler + tweenie)
  1. Nice showers.

Help me get excited about camping in 2009! Thanks campers...

No, not at all. I went to a horrible caravan park on the gower once. park was awful but it was stunningly beautiful there... would def make the trek for a good site!

We stayed here last yr and it is really lovely . The showers etc are perfect and the beach nearby is beautiful . No fires allowed unfortunately but we found it really friendly and would go back again .

Thank you thank you! Have bookmarked all. Ooh, I'm getting excited now...

I don't know where you live but my secret find from last year in exchange:

mellow farm

can have fires, cheap, kids can feed the pigs, no set pitches...
