2 centre VENDEE/ southern brittany and DORDOGNE... A good idea?

we'd be looking at sailing from newhaven (our nearest port) to dieppe, or from portsmouth.

we 're thinking a week under canvas- with canvas holidays or similar- by the sea in the vendee/ s.brittany. then a week in a mobile home in the dordogne. possibly palombiere (sp) near sarlat.

so... do you think these driving distances would be do-able, without any over night stops?

also...is the vendee far enough south to bank on beach weather in august?

any recommendations for camp sites greatly appreciated. oh, and we'd really like a british run children's club as the dds- aged 5 and 7 loved the one we went to at lake garda.

tia

Try this. Vendee weather in August is lush!

I hate the idea of moving around on holiday personally. If you only have two weeks to have to pack in the middle of it would turn me right off.

Vendee weather in August is very hit and miss ime.

I have seen this one but not stayed here. It's quite big but lots going on in high season.

We have. Its ok - full of Brits.

thanks all. some disagreemnet re weather, i notice!

re 2 centre idea...we might be able to stretch to 8 days in each site. part of the reason for doing a 2 centre is that dh and i love the dordogne, as we have been there pre children, and want to visit old haunts. we dont need a fortnight there, though. so...the the plan would be, chill out by the sea, then sight seeing in second week. we already know the dordogne, so wont need to get our bearings twice, IYSWIM.

We once did a 2-centre hol with eurocamp - Normandy coast & the Jura - that was for more than 14 nights though.

Can't remember the exact timings but we had a few days in Normandy, a few days in the Jura & then a few more days back in Normandy, & we did a Dover-Calais ferry.

This was in May/June & apart from one impossibly wet day we had fabulous weather. You can get lovely/horrible weather anywhere in August

thanks, ponders.

i get a bit bored being in one place for a fortnight, tbh, so the 2 centre really appeals. maybe i'll get dh to take 3 weeks off. fat chance!

Camping acapulco in St jean de monts is fab - great location and brill for the kids. We went with camping Life which is now canvas.
