I did three months in a tent in 2001. My husband had to do a course in Hastings and we couldn't afford to keep up the rent on our house and pay his lodgings. I went with him and got a temporary job as soon as we got there.
It was during the summer which was nice in terms of weather, but meant the campsites we stayed on were busy with holiday makers.
We stayed for a month on one site and then moved to another for the remaining two months.
We had a basic two man tent which we slept in and a beaten up old transit van that had been converted into a camper. The conversion was not too good, only a single bed, hence sleeping in the tent.
We bought a gazebo and rigged it up outside the transit and had the tent just next to the gazebo. We bought a couple of throws and blankets to hang on the sides of the gazebo for a bit of privacy.
It was doable for us and I would do it again.
You need to be organised. There was no chance of snoozing the alarm clock otherwise we would have missed a chance for a shower before others got there. You also need to think about food. We had no fridge so kept milk and butter in a bucket of cold water under the van. We went to the supermarket every day to buy dinner, milk and stuff for sandwich lunches to keep our costs low.
If you have any specific questions I will do my best to answer them.
