Has anyone used a gas canister heater in their tent?

Hi, this autumn we're planning to go camping but need something to warm up the tent in the evenings and first thing in the morning.
In the past we've used an electric convector heater but we have to have hookup for that and it restricts the campsites we can use.
Does anyone use gas heaters?

is that total madness? No don't put gas fires inside tents. jumpers and socks

We do, but try not to as much as poss as it creates loads of condensation and is a bit of a fire hazard.

It's ok thought as long as you don't have it on while you are asleep or anything.

We used to use one when it was really cold but like giraffskeel says it does cause lots of condensation and you can't leave it on while you're asleep. We haven't bothered with ours for the last 2 years.

I have seen a tent catch fire. I will never, ever forget the sight and sound of it. Sorry to be blunt, but if you had been part of the bucket chain carrying water to pour over the burnt hands of the camper who used a naked flame in his tent you would not even be thinking of doing this.
