We are thinking of buying an Outwell Vermont L so any views on this tent good or bad would be appreciated. We saw the vermont XL at a camping shop which is lovely but just a little too big so we figured the L. This will be our first tent so really need some advice before buying.

We have one and we love it.. we have 2 kids 4 and 2 and brought the kids room to go in it which the kids loved.. the wardrobe was handy to have things tucked away. Its a 4 and 2 bedroom - we had the 4 man bedroom which was nice and roomy.. and had room to put things down the side. We also brought the carpet and this made tent feel more cosy.

For us the set up was - Bedrooms, living area, and the porch was the kitchen/ dining area. Me and DH sat out in the porch bit quite alot whilst the kids would play in the living area. So tent suited us. We also liked that we could have the porch fully opened.

Thanks JHKE, thats what I was hoping to hear. We were so take by the XL because of the amount of space (a bit too much) so was really pleased to see they did slightly smaller ones. I'm assuming its easy enough for idiots myself and DH to put up.

It is fairly easy although we found it easier to not follow certain parts of the instructions so I would check with the camping shop for advice here. It was the camping shop that warned us.

We also had an Vermont L and really liked the layout. Fairly straightforward to put up but definitely needs 2 as its quite heavy.

Thanks dustystar. Definitely going to get one for next year. Completely sold on the idea of camping afer seeing that tent.

We have the XL and I absolutely love it.

It's a doddle to put up and the porch is such a brilliant feature as you can kick of shoes etc and store things in it leaving your main area dry, clean and uncluttered.

There is a video on youtube of teh guy at Yeoman's Ambleside putting the tent up on his own - we use his method but with 2 of us and it's easy.

lol at dusty star 'definitely needs 2 as its quite heavy'...says she who now has a Norfolk Lake - quite possibly the heaviest tent in the world!

but also the best
