Anyone got a Vango 900 Diablo?? Or anyone know whether zips breaking and a pole breaking means the end of your tent??

We bought our tent second hand from a friend of a friend who?d not used it much and it was in new condition. We tried to put it up last year and dh broke a pole which we had mended after much phoning around of the local outdoor places in our area. Only one place repaired them and that has since shut down. We noticed this morning (when out camping!) that a pole had snapped again, not sure if it?s the same or a different one and also most of the inside zips unzip when you have zipped them shut. This is the first time this tent has been used by us and although it was fab we are worried about not being able to find someone to repair or buy another pole. How do we go about getting the zips mended so it is still functional?

Does anyone else have a Vango and what has been your experience with it?

Vango have a lifetime guarantee for repair or replacement. Not sure what happens if the tent is sold on - can you get hold of the original receipt?

Does sound as though something is not going right when you erect the tent. Do you have the dvd that came with the tent?

Didn't know there was a dvd! We don't have the receipt but will ask the friends of friends if they do.
We put it up with friends who have the same tent and have used it many times. Maybe we are just unlucky with ours?

our vango diablo which was new had a problem with zips un zipping..especially the fornt.

ah well there you go, it could be a 'known issue'. Sometimes you are just unlucky with tents and get one with problems, but Vango are usually very good at honouring their guarantee, so I would definitely try getting hold off the receipt.

Our Vango Diablo 900 ripped on May bank holiday (torrential rain and winds), the ground sheet ripped where the pegs go in. We had brought this last year in a sale for £256

We found our proof of purchase via an old bank statement and got a brand new Diablo Diablo 900XP (worth £499) as a replacement from the shop that we brought it off.

There is a knack to putting up this tent, I have to stand on a box supporting the three largest poles for the dome as DP runs around putting them into the peg holders. There is too much strain otherwise on the poles.
