Sandy Balls - how much to do if the weather is no good?

After reading the reviews on here and UK campsite I want to book for next year (August) but given what August weather has been like this year and last year I wondered is there much to do if its raining? What sort of places are there to visit locally and do they provide much entertainment?

agree with cod - loads to do around there whatever the weather. What sort of things do you like to do and how old are your DCs?

Yes absolutely loads of stuff, you will be fine. Quick examples that spring to mind are Alice in Wonderland which now has an indoor bit that DD assures me is excellent. Swimming at Tower Park in Poole. Farmer Palmers has a lot under cover. Friends who house sat for us said that the electricity museum in Mudeford is free and actually very good (I need some convincing about that but she was adamant !). Oceanarium in Bournemouth, pottery painting, ice skating. Moors valley can be not too bad in the rain if you do the play trail in the woods..

Having said that I am going abroad as it works out cheaper than places like Sandyballs.

Thanks for those answers - 1 DS - 8. Pottery, ice skating and the museum all sound good. DS likes to be active, outdoors things but loves "hands on" museums IFKWIM.

I missed out on booking Sandy Balls last year - I wanted a ready tent and when I went to book in Feb I think it was they had all gone. Will try to book just after Xmas if I can.

If he likes outdoor things then he'd probably love the monkey traily thing at Moors Valley Country Park near Ringwood. You follow an obstacle course up in the treetops (with harness on of course). Moors valley is fun anyway - we did the play trail and the treetop walk in the rain with DDs 4 and 2 - they were having too much fun to notice the rain

Loads. They have childrens craft workshops, a big swimming pool, inddor discos etc etc.
