Campsites all booked for this weekend (NE / North Norfolk) - any ideas?

Hello,

We want to go camping this weekend, late notice, but it's not always possible to predict whether our relationship is going to be on or off! Not surprisingly we are having trouble finding somewhere. Our first choice was Northumberland, also happy with anywhere (nice!) on the coast in the North East, or possibly North Norfolk.

I'm the turn up and we'll find somewhere type, but DP more realistic and doesn't want to be driving around for hours in the rain with a fractious 5 y.o.

Any tips?!

Ta

Bumping... am thinking of going this w/e- am I crazy?

Well we've now tried everywhere in Northumberland, and they're all either full or flooded (or possibly both!). We couldn't find anywhere near Whitby either, our second choice, but we've maybe found somewhere near Scarborough, but now DP is not very well, so not sure whether we'll go or not! After tomorrow the weather in the north seems fine. Where would you go?

It seems a bit silly that camping is one of those things that you should be able to do spur of the moment, but then you can't find anywhere! Before DD I just used to go and find somewhere when we got wherever we ended up - there always seem to be smaller places that don't appear in any books or websites - but not so easy with children to just do that.

Try here www.breckfarm.co.uk- don't usually have to book as they 2 massive fields, but probably worth ringing. Facilities quite basic (4 showers, 4 toilets). You may not get a hook up, but you can pitch where you want and light camp fires. We live in Norfolk and often go there at the weekends. Great woods nearby, beach a couple of miles away, nice stuff to visit locally.

Also, try www.ukcampsite.co.uk as they have lots of reviews (breck farm included). Hope you're lucky - unfortunately we can't go this weekend as DP has to work

They book up so fast for bank hols. suggest that joining the camping club might be an idea for next year? multitude of small sites on offer then
