How do you entertain young children camping in the rain

Okay, we have bought lots of new camping gear and we are still bravely planning to go despite this crap weather. My DSs are 3 and 5 and I have never taken them both camping before. What do we do if it continues to pour down?

We are going to the New Forest and were planning to cycle and visit Monkey World and do lots of walking and picnics. All, going tit up with this weather though, eh?

All you seasoned campers - please give your advice on how to keep them entertained inside a tent for possibly 3 days!

have just got back from camping in the rain. well the last day (today) wasnt too bad was on and off rain but still got to theme park with out getting too wet.

the day before it rained constantly we just sat in the caravan drinking tea/coffe/alcohol and shoved on dds wellies and raincoat she had a whale of a time running about in the mud.

children dont mind getting rained on, but be prepared for lots of mud. dd was covered. in fact i think she bathed in the mud!!

We just go home if it rains. And go again another time. Or we occasionally decamp to a hotel.

Really, camping in the rain for more than a couple of days is just miserable. You can't get around that.

Large box of Lego. Fits in a DC's footwell in the car. Works for my DD (3) and DS (21 months)

Get some good waterproofs and carry on regardless as much as possible.

DS had a fab time last year pushing his dolly trolly round Portmerion in the pouring rain.

I put mine in those two piece overtrousers and anorak combos they are very waterproof!

We take one of those Ikea igloo tents and the tunnel and put that up in the main living area of the tent.

Charlie and Lola crafty comics are quite handy, and sticker books, colouring stuff.

When I was a kid we went on some very wet camping trips. we just put wellies on and gt very muddy.

You shouldn't be damp inside the tent.Tent should be warm and dry. make sure muddy stuff is taken off in porch. Damp clothes go in tumble drier/airers on site.
