I am sure we never camped in a campsite when I was young and went camping with my parents, but I feel quite nervous about this!

Any tips?

I know all the basic and legal stuff.

we don't have a t.v ... and power might be an issue... I do have a solar shower but fear it might be a feasting opportunity for the beastard midge, so I might not wash too much.....

If you're heading into midgie territory then get yourself some Avon skin-so-soft. It's the best repellant, other than the ones that contain DEET (which melts plastic & is fairly toxic).

Take chocolate, whisky, cards & a book . A trowel for digging a loo.

Wear your lifejacket.

Don't overexert yourself & enjoy it .
