DH and I have just put up our new tent in the garden.

For a practise we made some silly mistakes but as it was just a practise that was ok apart from I am sunburnt

Kangaboy wants to sleep in it tonight so we are going to watch the forcast and see if it will be fine tomorrow to take it down

come and see our new tent it is DEFFO BRILL

We are not going on any trips this year DS is having a BBQ/Campover with all his friends at end of holiday

Although we were planning on spending alot less money I fell in love with the SV6, I love the suncanopy and the huge windows

We got the carpet for the SV8 so that DS could have the bedrooms taken out and have the larger carpet to cover the whole tent for his CAMPOVER

The Monty meant DH had to bend his head down cos that was our 2nd choice as advised by MNetters

We got a really good deal by ringing around and geting quotes for the TENT, FOOTPRINT GROUNDSHEET & CARPET

I forgot to say which tent we had

It is the OUTWELL SUNVALLEY 6 {2008 version}

Blimey - it's HUUUUUUGE! The massive porch will make a fab kitchen area!

RTKangaMummy · 24/07/2008 17:42

yes that is one of the things I love about it

pootleflump · 24/07/2008 17:52

Ooooh I love it, but I've been eyeing up the bear lake all year. Now that we've used our tent once I think we qualify for an upgrade .

Enjoy it!

RTKangaMummy · 24/07/2008 17:52

WOW

Yes there are only 3 of us, so the SV8 would be too big for us.

We love it, I am sure next time we put it up we will be more sensible and not take so long

oooh, lovely tent.

Lucycat · 24/07/2008 18:46

i do love your thread titles Kanga - I know it's you before I even open it!

Very nice tent too - tunnels are sooo easy to put up aren't they?

RTKangaMummy · 24/07/2008 19:44

Thanks

They would be easy if you watched the video and read the instructions properly which WE didn't

glad you had proper instructions with yours - we bought a family tent a few weeks ago and the instructions we had were "assemble tent" - thanks; that helps

RTKangaMummy · 24/07/2008 19:53

BLIMEY!!!!

Ours were attached to the bag the tent was in

OP posts:
tiredemma · 24/07/2008 19:56

our new tent had a DVD to instruct you how to put it up!!

PeachyBAHons · 24/07/2008 19:58

dh always prints off assembly tips to go with the instrucyions when we sell tents on, but gelert and outwell (and maybe others) have them sewn in

we didnt get a practise run, we pcked it up on the way to a site after we had a silly drama with the tent we thought we were geting. Poor dh had to put it up mostly alone- *not8 a good tent for that!

scanner · 24/07/2008 20:02

Am most we've been deciding between a SV8 and a wolf lake. I think we'll finally order it tomorrow as dh has judt been paid - out of interest who did you get your good deal with. The website you linked to is our local camping shop, so I'm keen to know if it was them.

Lucycat · 24/07/2008 20:32

go with the Lake but then again ....you do have a mahoosive car / trailer don't you?

the bags are truly huge!

RTKangaMummy · 24/07/2008 20:42

We watched the video last week but were toooooo excited to watch it today

Silly mistake

The instructions are very clear but we didn't read them properly

When we came back in and watched the video we realised it was much more simple than we made it

MORAL of the story

WATCH VIDEO and READ INSTRUCTIONS beforehand not afterwards

DH rang up loads of companies and got prices and then went to the local one which is SK camping {they are NOT very friendly though}

BUT they say they will pricecheck on the website so they had to really we were going to buy everything else but then decided as we don't need most of it til next year we would wait and get in sales as they wouldn't discount on it all

The best price was from NORWICH camping shop cos they all pricematched iyswim and so price went down

BUT IF YOU ARE GETING SV 8 THEN PRICEMATCH AND THEN RING GO CAMPING COS THEY GIVE EXTRA 10% OFF

But they didn't do the SV6 but they do do the SV8

Then go to your local one and get them to pricematch with the extra 10% off

Good luck

here is their website

Troutpout · 24/07/2008 20:54

ooh he's beautiful

scanner · 24/07/2008 20:54

Great idea, no wolf lake on that site, but I've found another that has it for £100 cheaper and the local place says it pricematches.

RTKangaMummy · 24/07/2008 20:58

Thanks

The time spent on the phone certainly pays off they all want to beat each other

Get the name of the person you are dealing with and then ring another and keep going and then go to one that gives extra 10% and you go down even more

Then go to local one and get a pricematch

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 24/07/2008 20:59

They do want the name of company etc so they know you are being honest
