Off to forest of dean - what to do ????

If it rains or any good trips -2 x 3 year olds to entertain.... staying at bracelands any info appreciated....so excited 1st trip for ages..

Symonds Yat - the hand ferry would amuse a three year old.

I think there was a thread on Forest of Dean not so long ago. My dc used to enjoy Beechenhurst Lodge, nice play area, sculpture trail, great place for picnics, there's also a nice cafe there. There's a train station at Lydney which does Thomas days.

Bracelands is just up the road from my house.

you could visit the Hopewell Colliery which is a open mine you can go down.
Puzzle wood at Lambsquay
miniature railway just down the road from puzzle wood.
clearwell caves
norchard railway station - lots of old steam trains to ride on
sculpture trail at speech house (beechenhurst)

thanks, they both love trains and the sculpture trail looks great for me so should all be off ...off to metcheck....

Dick Whittington centre near Little London I think - indoor play centre and lots of nice farm animals outside too. You could brave Lydney outdoor pool if the weather is hot though swarms of teenagers around.

Large and new soft play with decent cafe in Coleford, a stone's throw from Bracelands. Was a godsend for us after 12 hours of torrential rain at Whitsun!

Google "Norchard" for information about the steam trains, Thomas etc (near Lydney)

Go to whirlikidz in Chepstow. Much nicer, smaller too and the coffee is fab.

Lydney pool - brrrrr but deliciously old-fashioned

We've been a few times and it's lovely there.

Clearwell Caves are very good. I loved the sculpture trail but it's a jolly big long walk for little ones. Mine managed it but were pretty knocked out at the end. Lovely to toodle round on a warm day but I suggest to take a few drinks with you. We didn't and were quite thirsty.

Symonds Yat is gorgeous (visit the rope ferry) and Monmouth is a nice town to visit.

the boat trip up the wye (from the yat) is nice, also yat rock

puzzle wood supposed to be nice, also a friend works at the mine so should mention it lol!
