oh yes, ditch the mother

also ditch the:
laptop
electric box
heater (ffs)
table
chairs

You are going camping, not trying to recreate a three star hotel in a field.

And no, you can't take the kitchen sink

Slubberdegullion · 17/07/2008 15:49

hmmmm can you strap the dogs on skate boards, stick baby in the buggy and attach all 3 to the rear bumper?

and drive reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaally sloooooooooooooooooooowly

OverMyDeadBody · 17/07/2008 15:49

and the buggy too, unessential

babyjjbaby · 17/07/2008 15:50

roffle Slubber

Actually, on a more serious note, have you booked a campsite yet? If not, maybe some of them have tables and chairs of picnic benches so you won't have to take your own?

OverMyDeadBody · 17/07/2008 15:51

those things, dear.

babyjjbaby · 17/07/2008 15:51

i think ma should pay for a hire car as its ma who wants all these luxuries. if she wont then ask her to load it all up while you stand there until she realises it wont fit.

How old is the baby, is buggy necessary?

Slubberdegullion · 17/07/2008 16:00

Make Ma pack the car. As you're not driving you should sit in one of the camping chairs and have a nice glass of wine and give helpful comments like "that's not going to fit in there"

babyjjbaby · 17/07/2008 16:01

good idea i'll see if she can fit it all in on sunday if i can't fit in yep buggy essentila lol cos not planning on using the car once we r there wished we could afford to hire car but we can't no way cost £130 just for site

kerryk · 17/07/2008 21:46

we are going camping for a whole week in france, 2 adults and 2 children with all the odds and sods you need and we are going in.................... a bloody megane sport!!! it seemed like a good idea at the time

i am determined that we can do it with no roof box, my plan is tent stored long ways in boot so not taking up much space, all our clothes in one hold all (will leave shoes, fleeces, jackets out till last and they can be placed around everything else) box containing campling stove, dishes/cutlery and some tins will take up the rest of the boot space.

airbeds and sleeping bags will be in the back seat footwells (children are short and feet dont reach the floor)

renaults are pretty good for little hidy holes under footwells and in doors so this is where we will store camcorder/camera/books/sat nav and documents such as insurance and passports.

we have bought a good quality backpack to take with us everyday as we plan to have a lot of picnics so whoever is sitting in the passanger seat will have to have this at there feet.

i hope this works because all this organising has been done in my head and not sure if i have it right

misselizabethbennett · 17/07/2008 21:54

For our camping trips we take car, trailer, a roofrack piled high with chairs, etc and a canoe (!) with bikes on a rack on the back.

We look like the sodding Beverly Hillbillies!

I don't think I'm really qualified to reply to this post.

NigellaTheOriginal · 17/07/2008 22:00

You need to leave about 3 spare hours for packing the car. then repacking, then stuffing stuff around the edges, then repacking again.
and remember to put everything in first and the tent last.
don't think clothes will dry overnight. take lots of clean knickers and forget the electric fridge. and put stuff under, around and on top of ma.
and have fun.

babyjjbaby · 18/07/2008 07:38

haha i will have fun sunday won't i i might fit it all in i have found out the site has a laundretter so will wash the clothes by hand a nd tumble them to dry them

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 18/07/2008 08:19

laundry is the last thing you will want to be doing

jsut wear dirty clothes, everyone else will be
