200 says ideal for summer camping . range from 4 to 30 celcisus. the 300one can apparently cope with -12 degrees. five pounds difference.
suggestions please from people who know about this.

Does the weight matter? Will he be carrying it around in a backpack or will it be put in a car and driven to campsite?

Will you only be doing summer camping?

For DS and I I went for the warmer ones, as it means you need less layers to sleep in so cut down on extra clothes we need to take, but I don't have a car so weight ecomomy is very important.

he will be driven to campsite.
the website doesnt have the warmer one in stock. it has others, but they are all forty pounds plus. i didnt want to spend quite that much money.
should i spend that and think of it as an investment?

Well it will be an investment right! When do you need it by? Is there a mountain warehouse by you as they do them at very reasonalbe prices. I got DS a child's one form there and it has lasted 4 years now with no sign of weear, and he probalby camps in it about 4 weeks a year.

If you get a £40 one, and it lasts, say 4-6 years, that is only a tenner a year so not very expensive right? Although obviously if you don't have the cash to spare you don't have the cash to spare.
