I need a comfy chair for camping. What have you got?

I don't want one of those bog standard camping chairs...

I want something witha high back that I relax in rather then end up in heap on it.

I'm getting desparate now because I saw someone with a FAB one last yr, it would have been perfect but can't for teh life of me remember the name of the company who made it.

it was black, with white writing in the corner....wheich is about as much help as a chocolate teapot.

Is it one of these?

OverMyDeadBody · 30/06/2008 17:48

a hammock

dustystar · 30/06/2008 17:49

I don't know which chair you mean but completely agree with having a comfortable chair with a high back! We bought chairs from The Range last year. The cost about £20 each and fold like a deck-chair rather than an umbrella like many camping chairs do. They are very comfy - no footrest but moveable back and a cushioned head rest. Also they are a woven plastic material so can be left outside and dry very quickly.

Lucycat · 30/06/2008 17:49

although I'd like one of these beeyooties

dustystar · 30/06/2008 17:50

We tried chairs like the ones lucycat has linked to and they were comfy but both broke during the second week away so I wouldn't get that style again.

dustystar · 30/06/2008 17:51

I meant the first chiars she linked to - damn my slow typing

ChippyMinton · 30/06/2008 17:55

You need a Lafuma if you have space in the car.

Ladytophamhatt · 30/06/2008 18:01

We have these.

They are good.

bramblebooks · 30/06/2008 18:15

oooh, lth, I sat in one of those at John Lewis in Cheadle this week

My very comfy chair is a very foldable beach lounger chair from Millets. It's high backed and not far from the ground as I can sprawl my legs out in front of me and chill back.

bramblebooks · 30/06/2008 18:16

oooh! ello there slubbster.

Slubberdegullion · 30/06/2008 18:20

ello there bramblybrubster ) not sure if that works)

Slubberdegullion · 30/06/2008 18:21

neither do my farking brackets

bramblebooks · 30/06/2008 18:28

It's no use now LTH, you've got me fantasising about the comfy chair now. And the comfy sofa/double collapsible chair. I'll be thinking about comfy cushions next and then men with red robes will leap through my tent door saying nobody expects them.

bramblebooks · 30/06/2008 18:32

Mummeeeeee, I neeeed this!

moosemama · 30/06/2008 18:50

I too have been looking for a super comfy camping chair, I think the best thing is to go to a large camping shop and try out a few.

BTW

Don't know if its of any help, but am reliably informed (by lurking on the forums of dedicated campers ) that the most comfortable seating to take camping is the 5-in-1 inflatable sofa bed.

Takes up quite a bit of space in the tent but has a reliably supportive back and can be converted into several different styles of bed if required.

Its pricey, but I am probably going to get one as I will be 20 wks pg when we go camping later this summer (also means I can escape sharing the camper van bed with DS2 and DH and slope off into the awning for a blissfully wriggle free night!)

(You can google it and they sometimes have them on ebay.)

moosemama · 30/06/2008 18:54

Just realised what a camping lightweight I must sound.

We usually do fairly low budget, low-tech camping, but am playing my pregnancy card this time as I suffer from lax joints and spd during pregnancy and really don't want to spoil the boys holiday by being uncomfortable and grumpy.

bramble, what was it like?

Was it super comfy or just an average cahir?

bramblebooks - I live 5 minutes from that there John Lewis - I didn't know they did Sunncamp chairs - I must visit, but get dressed up first. It is a requirement if I am to shop with the Ladies Who Lunch.

It's the age old space issue that limits us....although when we get a trailer...

bramblebooks · 30/06/2008 19:57

Lucycat, I shall warn you if I am ever going there again! I wuv the place. I got there by default the other day as Quarry Bank Mill was shut due to gales.

LTH it was very nice. Not sure how it folds though, so might not be the right thing - you'll have to send lucy cat out on a misssion (ooooooh the cheek of that bramble person!!)

Troutpout · 30/06/2008 20:34

These are good
