How cold at night at the moment...?

We're camping this weekend (first time with the DC's) and I'd looked at the messages here and decided:

plastic backed picnic rugs under airbed/travel cot
blanket/fleece on top of bed/cot (but under us, as a sheet)

for baby - PJ's, usual baby sleeping sleep (i.e.e arms out), cot duvet

for toddler - kid's lightweight sleeping bag plus duvet plus fleece throw

for us - duvet + throw

Is that too much/too little for this time of year? Btw, I am very soft, don't like the cold....!

Where are you camping? You will wake up sweating. Tents get very hot pretty much as soon as the sun rises at this time of year.

i have not been in a tent for 20 years but that sounds fine for almost anything except a blizzard. good choice, very flexible.

DH thought I was being OTT! Maybe I'll leave one of the layers... I have memories of the two us camping in Cornwall and it got quite cold/damp at night. We'll be in the south east, not near the coast this time. What do more seasoned campers use during summer in the UK? Just a sleeping bag isn't enough in the middle of the night, is it?

We are going camping this weekend, and I was going to sleep baby in long sleeved sleepsuit and grobag, with balnket for later if it gets cold and 4 yr old DS and us in PJs and sleeping bag - will we need more than that?? My memories of camping as a child are of just a sleeping bag, am I wrong?

we went camping last weekend [still soggy emoticon] and it got very very cold think maybe nother fleece blanket for baby? there was one wailing all night in a tent next to ours - made dh and i have flashbacks to small babies and him decide to have the snip actually - and it sounded like a 'i am chilly' wail.

We went camping last weekend and that sounds just about right to me. Better to have too much that you can remove than not enough. I went to bed with fleece pyjamas, jumper, socks, quilt and woke up roasting and older two children didn't even get into their sleeping bags - although they had quilt and blanket as well!! My little one was in her travel cot with normal pyjamas, quilt and blanket and she slept fine. Happy camping!!
