Woodlands campsite in Dartmouth, Devon

Does anyone have any reviews for this campsite? I am thinking of booking it for a week in late August.

oooo. went there last year. it's very good.
grown ups can go on the slides too.....
nice showers/ toilets
hilly theme park area so a bit wearing with a buggy.
busy busy park in the hols.
def worth a trip, but won't be a quiet relaxing break!

It looks great doesn't it. We want to go there for a weekend at some point but are waiting for good weather - does it always need booking in advance does anyone know?

We went May last year - the DCs loved it. Theme Park place was good - the best version of a ball pit ever (involving being able to shoot balls at each other ) and good rides. Was pretty busy but if you're camping as opposed to day-tripping you can get in there early. SHowers, site etc was good, although not somewhere to go if you're looking for quiet and peaceful. And Dartmouth itself is so lovely - one of my favourite towns in the UK.

I will only be around 4 months pg so should be at a good stage! Believe you me, life with my DD1 is never quiet.

Rosa, I can imagine it does need booking in advance, It think it is very popular. There are only 3 pitches left for the week in August we want. I would just check the longterm forecast and see if you can get in any weekends that look good - if the weather turns horrendous, you would only lose your deposit.

We saw it on Demolition Dad (god knows what this is, it was a Channel 5 kids programme on yesterday, they filmed it there) my DD is desperate to go!

I live fairly close and have heard very good reviews. There is an amazing beach not far away, Blackpool Sands, that would be well worth a visit too.

Sorry, can't help re the site itself. But the theme park is very good. We have been a couple of times with the dds. I would, however, take your own food if possible as the food in the park tends to be of the crap & chips variety

The theme park is all mechanical rather than mad speed, ready made sick rides IYSWIM. It's great. The indoor soft play is big and it's fab.

The main pitches are flat and very well tended.

The field at the back, which is cheaper, is on a slope. It sucks! The facilities are grand but that feckin' field nearly finished me off. Put the children out on their little table and chairs in the morning. Turned round to brew up and before I knew it, both kids tipped up on their arses with Cheerios and milk spread all around them.

Around and abouts, you can easily get to Blackpool Sands which is a shale beach but one of my favourites in the whole world. Dartmouth is lovely and crabbing is excellent!

Well worth it but just don't book on to the buggery field at the back. Pay extra for a 'proper' pitch.

Thanks Doodle, I spoke to the lady on the phone there and she said I would want to stay on the terraces, I take it this is where you mean?

I've never camped there but parents live nearby and it was our FAVOURITE place to go for a holiday treat when we were little.

They used to have a kind of farm with animals to pet as well. I don't know if that's still there.

Lots of fun rides, but as others have said it's very hilly!

We have come back from there and it is good but once the park closes there is nothing at the site for kids to do, there is no play park in the camping area. There is a games room with arcade games for older kids.

We stayed for 4 nights but 2 would have been plenty for me.
