Best passive cool box for three nights camping for two people

Hi I’m in need of a better passive cool box for 3 nights camping this week, Google has mashed my head, not sure of brand or size to go for. It’s for 2 of us, any recommendations please? Thank you

what budget? Yeti are amazing. We just camped for 3 days in 30c heat and there was still ice in it at
the end

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/05/2026 16:12

We’ve got at Icy-Tek. It’s excellent. 3 days cold in summer heat no prob. Very similar to Yeti. Probably nothing to choose between them.

PuzzlingRecluse · 25/05/2026 16:53

Thanks both, what size do you use? It’s just me & ds I would need to lift it when full. We camp quite remotely so can’t guarantee top up shop available.

Yeti, Icey Tek or Coleman Xtreme.

24l if you don’t need to fill it full of numerous beers etc. You could look at 40l but it will be very heavy full.

Coolboxes UK who sell Icey Tek show how much can be fitted in.

Pre-chill it, put stuff in frozen or v chilled, open as infrequently as possible, don’t leave the lid open.

Thank you they are all heavy, I’m drawn to the icey tek debating the 25L or the 35L with wheels

Does anyone have the 35L with wheels? I can’t find review or videos of that one 🤔

Igloo are also very good, ours has lasted years and lasts five days. Pre cool which ever one you choose with frozen water bottles and freeze some of you stuff for the last days and you’ll be grand!

bk1981 · 26/05/2026 06:24

I would go 25l. We initially bought a 40l icy Tek and it's so heavy when full that we very rarely use it now. Even one with wheels will need to be lifted in and out of the boot.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/05/2026 06:25

I think our IceyTek might be 30 L? It does not have wheels.

Thibk about how/where you’ll put it in your car, and how/where you’ll store it.

Iheartmysmart · 26/05/2026 06:39

I’ve got a 25L Icey Tek and have found it to be the best one so far, much prefer it to my old Yeti. Plenty of room for about 5 days worth of food for me. But it is heavy - I’m in a first floor flat so have to lug it down a flight of stairs to the car. Last time I went camping, I took the empty cool box down and put it in the car then took the food and ice packs down separately.

I have very little storage in my flat so all my camping gear lives in plastic storage boxes behind a rattan screen in my office. The cool box goes at the bottom with all the other stuff stacked jenga style on top of it.

Thanks everyone I’ve gone for the 25L icey tek 🤩

Fab!

ImWearingPantaloons · 26/05/2026 10:23

We have a yellow 25 litre one. The little sister to her purple 40 litre brother.

Best cool boxes ever

PuzzlingRecluse · 26/05/2026 11:10

I’m really excited about it 🙈🙈🙈😂

We have a Yeti - so expensive but they actually work

The yellow one!!

I’ve checked. Our Icey is 25L - and yellow!

Tabarnak · 26/05/2026 13:34

I absolutely love my Icey Tek. It’s one of my camping things that makes me feel like a smug perfectly kitted out camper: my Icey Tek , my Go Anywhere Weber BBQ, my cotton canvas tent, my campfire grill for cooking over a fire, and my Swiss Army Knife.

But I was tempted by a Yeti I saw other campers using that would be a better colour coordination with my tent. This cannot in any way be justified!

I heard about Icey Teks through MN! About 15 years ago and we were all asking for them for Christmas etc.

Actually I have 2, a 24l one and the 18l with handle

Iheartmysmart · 26/05/2026 16:41

I’m jealous of your brightly coloured Icey Teks. Mine is boring white because I thought it would be better at reflecting the sun and keeping the contents cool. Not very often I choose function over form 😆

PuzzlingRecluse · 26/05/2026 18:06

I’m hoping for pure joy when it arrives tomorrow.
I have a bell tent so reckon I can get away with bright yellow cool box 🏕️

The great thing about the 25L is that it’s big & sturdy enough to sit on.
