Camping recommendations within two hours of Bristol

My son has decided he’d like to go camping for his birthday this year in June.
Weve never been camping so I’m looking for some recommendations of places to go maybe 2ish hours away from Bristol. Somewhere we could have a bbq, have a toilet to use and something exciting to do nearby. He did request near a cliff aswell or mountain so I’m thinking maybe wales but I’m open to other places.

Not used myself but friends have used here Three cliffs and said it was nice

For your first try, if you want something with entertainment, mendip activity centre is good. Otherwise I’d echo three cliffs or Gower in general.

I was also going to recommend three cliffs but they do book up very quickly. Otherwise the campsite by Oxwich beach and do a boat trip to see the dolphins?

Watermouth Valley Camping Park is lovely - Google says 2hrs 15mins from Bristol.

Oh yes,Three Cliffs is great. Right on top the cliff and you can walk down it to the absolutely glorious beach. There's also the ruins of Pennard castle that you can walk to. There aren't any organised activities or a club house or swimming pool though if that's important. Obviously there are toilets and shower facilities.

Try the Forest of Dean. Then you’ve got great woods for adventures, bike riding and a couple of Go Apes. Beechenhurst has a great cafe for hungry kids and parents and a Go Ape.

But also recommend the Gower. We stayed at Nicholaston camp site which was fab

Little Meadow near Ilfracombe is lovely. Not far from Woolacombe beach and there’s Watermouth Castle and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur park close by. Boat trips around the coast and to Lundy island from Ilfracombe. We occasionally got a view of the dolphins from our tent on a clear day. Basic but clean facilities and electrical hook up if you need it.
