Eurocamp mobile home - stairgate?

No, I know they don't have stairs

but assuming the weather is nice and we have the door open, will we need one to stop crawling-and-curious dd flinging herself out onto the decking below?

I'd take one as a precaution.

We got a travel one that is pressure fit in Argos I think. It folds up into a slim bag and is OK. The only downsides are that you have to take it out of the opening to get in and out, and DD screams when she sees it as she knows she is about to be thwarted.

Isn't the decking level with the caravan though? then again, there will be the decking steps/edge to keep her away from as well.

the one we were in several years ago had steps down to the ground, so yes, however I'm not sure that the doors will be standard width doors anyway. So unless you have an adjustable one it may not fit.

MrsBadger · 13/06/2008 14:04

aha, didn't know the decking was level with the door

am less concerned with decking edges when we are all outside, it's when we're cooking or something and she rambles off...

good point ecmo. the travel one is adjustable but goes from 71cm up. I'm pretty sure caravan doors are only 60cm or thereabouts.

Perhaps you just need to get crafty with the clothes airer/other suitable barricade!

When I was little and went on caravan hols, the caravans usually had split doors. they don't seem to be like that as a rule these days.

MrsB, check with eurocamp, as we've definately had stairgates for the doors in mobiles before. Decking is usually level with the door, but you might need one to stop dd crawling down the deck steps.

we took a travel one when the dc were wee - it was adjustable and fitted the French life mobile doors. We also barricaded tghe pitch with the car and the sun loungers on their sides - not fully escape proof but it bought us a couple of extra seconds!

Deckking level with caravan. However, decking steps wide so a stairgate won't fit. Just put 1 or both of the reclining sunloungers on it's side across the steps, et voila!

We have arranged a coffee table across the door / kitchen area as a barricade when the dd's were little.

but I would definately contact Eurocamp to see what they suggest, they must get lots of this kind of enquiry.
