Which one?

Slinky · 14/02/2005 16:27

Smaller sites are a priority for me as well - can't imagine staying on a 800+ pitch site as I wouldn't feel comfortable letting the kids have the freedom.

Kids club was a priority in the past, but last year we used it maybe twice. However, we do go on holiday with 3 other families - 13 children in total - so they have enough company to play with.

sorry - the Fierbois one

AuntyQuated · 14/02/2005 16:29

we are the same slinky - like dd to be able to go to the shop on her own- she gets the croissants while we ahve a cuppa in bed

crunchie · 14/02/2005 16:31

lillibet the Ferbois looks good but no tents WHich is the one near Blois, I am being dense?

lilibet · 14/02/2005 16:31

yes, they also have pedalo things and boats - it really is a lovely site. I love the Loire, it's my favourite bit of France.

We went twice near Bastille Day and St Catherine de Fierbois, the local village is less than a mile's walk away - they have a really good carnival then.

Ho hum - getting nostalgic - we are going to the Vendee this year which is virgin territory for us.

Slinky · 14/02/2005 16:32

LOL - same here! It was DD1s job to go and get the croissants/baguettes in the morning whilst we were having a leisurely coffee - she loved it as there is no way she would be allowed to do that here!

AuntyQuated · 14/02/2005 16:33

it is full with both keycamp and eurocamp but you can book direct....do you have any idea what their mobile haomes are like, lillibet?

AuntyQuated · 14/02/2005 16:34

how old is she slinky?
dd will be 9 in march but has done this the last 2 summers.
like you say at home she isn't allowed to go to the shop at the top of the lane as involves a road!!

lilibet · 14/02/2005 16:34

Have a look on the canvas site - they do tents on all sites in the Loire, and their tents are quite good - I like the layout of them. They do kidsclubs too

Slinky · 14/02/2005 16:35

AQ

DD1 is also 9 - was 9 in October and yes it's been the last 2 summers !

crunchie · 14/02/2005 16:37

AQ look at Leisure Direction website. They sell Keycamp holidays (but they won't tell you they are Keycamp unless you ask) Last week they had avilability.

lilibet · 14/02/2005 16:38

AQ, about three years since we were there and they looked good then - have a look on canvas, they do mobiles as well.

AuntyQuated · 14/02/2005 16:42

thnaks for all the info - have to go to dentist now but will check them out later...Canvas site is a pia and you can't check avaialablilty
will let you know

Slinky · 14/02/2005 16:42

If you do go to the Loire region, would definately recommend the "Doue La Fontaine" zoo -absolutely fantastic!

lilibet · 14/02/2005 16:43

And for a rainy day Maison de Magie in Blois

AuntyQuated · 15/02/2005 14:45

I HAVE DONE IT

booked this site but direct with the site not keycamp

off to work out how much we have saved!

AuntyQuated · 15/02/2005 14:46

keycamp £1950

independently £1500

lilibet · 16/02/2005 11:23

Wow that is so good [grin}

I'm very jealous - I love it there - how are you getting there?

lilibet · 16/02/2005 11:26

we're going here

crunchie · 16/02/2005 11:33

Looks good, do go to the Altantic toboggan waterpark. If your kids like slides, they'll like this

Slinky · 16/02/2005 12:12

AQ

Wow, that saved you quite a bit! I recently changed our travel details, (now going to Dover-Calais) and I saved just under £400 by just doing that!

Lillibet - your site looks good!

Just for info, we're going here

AuntyQuated · 16/02/2005 17:20

lilibet - we are going Dover- Calais then staying overnight before driving down.

we went to the vendee a couple of years ago, stayed in Brem-sur-mer. trying to think what we did. St Giles has a lovely evening market, Brem has very little but does have a fantastic park where nothing is mechanical, so you have to provide all the power and adults join in with everyhting..there's a brill bouncy castle type cushion for grown ups ; how old are your children? ours were 7 and 4.
don't be tempted to visit the shell museum at les sables, YAWN YAWN
the year we went there was the heat wave and when we arrived it was 40 degrees!!

slinky - we looked at that site too but couldn't find it to book direct plus we were attracted to the lake at the one we booked. "Castels" sites seem to be really good and if there is a castels restaurant on site then you have struck gold!

ooo, can't wait now; hope we all ahve a fab time

when are you all going? we go July 29th - Aug 13th.

crunchie - did you get sortde out?

Slinky · 16/02/2005 17:28

The restaurant on-site at Saumur is lovely - food is gorgeous.

We go the same time as you - we leave Dover on 30th July very early morning and we arrive back in the UK on the 13th August.
