Calling all seasoned Francophiles. Can anyone help us as I am beginning to panic! Due to a job change we?ve had to move our hol dates and have now got 2 weeks from the 19th July. Problem is I think this is the first week of school hols? And I am having no luck with finding a nice campsite that has spaces. Does anyone have any little gems that are less well known that I could try?
We are not too bothered about regions, thinking Loire/Vendee and or Dordogne? We would love to NOT be in a keycamp eurocamp massive place? Closeness to a small town/village would be great (stroll or cycle), place should have a pool, playground and somewhere to eat one site?? errr what else in ideal dream holiday world, riverside camping sounds dreamy and not too many pitches or massive loud facilities clubs/ ?local? dancing etc.

you need to go here

not on a rive, but they have some little lakes and it is 15 mins drive from the beach.

a Kid fell off the swing when I was there and damaged his tooth and another dad rushed over and said, 'Its OK I'm a dentist!' V friendly place1

It is fabbo, faded elegance out the arse. pony rides for the kids. Nice and quiet, but they do the odd BBQ and quiz.

I love it and have been a few times.

Hope they have vacancies

Oh and you can rent a fridge off them as well!

Didn't work...google Le Moulin Fort, looks like a nice small site. don't really know what's near by, we've never been before.

Try these people here They're british and campers themselves so if they can help you they will.

They are really nice people and very hospitable

We've just come back from a Castels site - Chateux Lez-Eaux in Normandy. Really nice, roomy pitches and they have their own caravans and chalets to rent. We were in a very posh wooden job which was HUGE.

Also the Castels site in Rougemont in the Jura was very good (went some years ago)

Castels have got their own web site and are lovely campsites - very cleanly run with good facilities. I'm crap at links but if you google it it will come up.
