Recommendations for French campsites?

I’m wondering if anyone knows of a site with these features! Ideally:
Walking distance to a village with basic shops.
Near a river or lake.
Fairly basic - don’t need entertainment.
Around the middle of France.
Good views/interesting places to visit.
Any recommendations welcome!

My absolute fave campsite in France is Camping Le Capeyrou in Beynac in the Dordogne. From memory that ticks all your boxes. Pretty campsite right by the river with a couple of shops just outside the entrance. Lots of interesting places to visit - Sarlat, Lascaux (for the amazing cave paintings), castles, pretty villages. I’d be back like a shot!

Camping le Paradis Dordogne or Huttopia Beaulieu sur Dordogne

Just found this thread.

We loved the Camping Intercommunale (like Municipale, so cheap!) at Chinon in the Loire Valley. It's on the river, right opposite the castle, so you can walk into the gorgeous town really easily. There's no pool on site, but you get a discount on the excellent municipal pool just down the road.

I would also highly recommend Camping du Toy, in the Landes, although it's in the middle of nowhere! So you have to drive to the village or a lake to swim. But it's one of the best campsites I've stayed at.

And the one I always recommend (but it's in Brittany)- Le Milin Kerhe, near Guingamp. There's a river on site, which you can swim in or explore in their kayaks.

One of the all time loved by mn campsites is Les valades in the Dordogne. It’s been sold but apparently still lovely. There’s not really anything within walking distance though.
That was our most favourite French site alongside one in murol in the Auvergne called La ribeyre. I’d go back to either of them in a heartbeat.
