It's our inaugural trip this weekend, bought all the kit, lovingly packed it all and it's sitting ready to go in the spare room. But the forecast looks shite for the SE ... We can't decide whether to go and risk putting the ds's off for life (and perhaps me?) or wimp out???

I really really really want to go but trying to make sensible decision.

what do you seasoned campers think?

Being near the playground wasn't too bad - after all, my dses got lots of ready-made friends as a by-product!

Dh did have to go out and ask a group of kids (nicely!) to move away a little with their football as it kept getting kicked into the tent - not a prob during the day, but annoying when trying to get the dses to go to sleep so we could get to wine o'clock!

Do feel a bit sad about the toys though - one was only a ball and not very expensive, but it had been brand new for the trip so is The Principle Of The Thing.

Also had to ask a couple of kids not to just stride into the awning and help themselves to toys without asking either us or the dses - was utterly bizarre, never occurred to me that would happen as I always stress to ours that they shouldn't go into other people's units as they are private. Not sure of the whole camping etiquette of that - anyone know? Might start a separate thread...

Kingsbury Water Park - absolutely lovely place, immaculate facilities and brilliant staff. Couldn't believe how level all the pitches were too!

Ooh- yes, thanks! Other people have said it is fab there too!

It's lovely - just a short walk to the country park - 30+ lakes, a little steam train that goes round the park (only guaranteed open Sundays and bank holidays though), lovely playgrounds. You can rent a bike if you want to, and little trailers for the kids. There's also a children's farm next door, but we didn't get to go to that, but I heard that it was very good.

Think it's going to be our new "weekend escape" site as it only takes 50mins to drive there from us, so just about right.

It looks great! Am roffling at the 'plastic' heron though
Its pretty close for us too, so I think we'll definitely take the plunge.

We went at the weekend - New Forest - dry piching up on Friday , rain Saturday night , bloody lots of rain Sunday night , woke up Monday morning to a tent surrounding by water , still raining - tent starts to flood !

Tent taken down in pouring rain ,puddle turning into lake ,

tent bundled into car , still up in garden drying out !

EachPeach - it was sooooo obviously fake too. Had that 'too perfect colours not quite right' look!
