Pitching tent on gravel!? Is this going to be really uncomfortable/difficult to pitch?

Just booked a weekend in August in the New Forest (Sandy Balls!!) and read the small print and it says the tent must be pitched on the gravel part of your 'area' and strong metal pegs will be needed. It also recommends hiring some sort of grass mat to make it more comfortable under the groundsheet. I'm worried now, only ever pitched on grass before and DH isn't coming with us so will need to put up tent on my own. Surely it will be mega uncomfortable to sleep on gravel (I've got 5cm self inflating air beds).

Thanks for help.

I've no idea what the answer is to this but was looking at Sandy Balls for half term and saw that, it put me off a fair bit as we are complete novices and I had visions of not being able to get the pegs in.

They have a field open in August though so I thought if we were going to go we might go then. Would that be an option or did you want the EHU?

Not sure if I can change now, worth a try though. I think I'd prefer to camp on grass! We've stayed before in log cabins and it is lovely, and the camping area always seems popular so it must work somehow I suppose
