We're newbies. It's a large caravan so can't be down any tiny lanes.

We're members of the cc club but from what I can see those sites are more expensive than non cc 😵

We will need electric hookup. Looking at August.

So, sell me your favourites and why! What do you like about the site and the surroundings?

Park foot is very popular. It's close to the main roads from Penrith

Thanks!

Anywhere else?

Particularly keen to find a site where the kids can play right outside our pitch.

I realise this might be tricky with electric. But for a shorter stay we could go without electric for a while.

Skelwith Fold, near Ambleside. It's in a beautiful setting and has decent facilities.

ETA They have electric.

Keswick is nice and right on lake (Derwent water caravan site)

Hillcroft Park in Pooley Bridge is lovely and easy to get to. It’s a family run park and is kept spotless. It’s a good base for exploring the rest of the lakes

There are 2 camping and caravan parks in Keswick, one called Keswick and the Derwent water caravan site. I’ve only been to Keswick site and it’s great.

Gill Head Farm is really family friendly. There’s a decent play area (which included trampolines when we went) visible from most of the pitches. There’s an outdoor activity centre just down the road, with quad bikes, pony trekking, archery etc…

Just back from Ullswater holiday park which had touring pitches. There was a bar, shop, chippy and playground. Toilets/showers spotless.

This one is lovely stayed last year. The walk up to the pitches is steep after a 12 mike walk lol.

I have also stayed at Keswick and it is great a 10 minute or so walk to the lake. Near the tiny theater and a short walk from the supermarket and town centre.
