and I don't know where to start evaluating the 10,000 tents on the market! Please advise, oh tent-obsessed mumsnetters...

We have a couple of small cheapy tents - one "2" man that he and DD1 barely squeeze into and one 3 man that isn't much better. This summer he and 3 of the 4 peaheads are planning on camping in the adjacent field and have invited friends over for camping nights etc. Me and the 4th peahead MAY be persuadable at some point too. So it needs to be big enough to sleep us all in comfort and harmony, and to have a nice covered bit to sit in when it is drizzling and play about in, but it doesn't need to be able to store masses of stuff and fridges etc.

Also once it is up it is likely to stay up for a few weeks at a time and only get moved about to enable grass cutting etc, unless you tell me this is a really bad idea for some reason.

So what shall I get? Budget - god I don't know. Under £300. Nearer £200 would be nice. Is that possible? I have no idea. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Lucycat, we did manage not to buy one on the spot and lasted about 5 days before we gave in !

The camping table hasn't made it out of the car boot yet where as the Dandy now has re-covered cushions, new curtains, floor and last night I hit new depths of sadness when I made hanging pockets. I blame Dustystar, she has been working on me since our DD's were tiny babies and now nearly 10 years later she's got me completely obsessed.

alien that coleman salt lake does look good - on another site it is reduced from £449 to £179
tbh such a huge reduction worries me a bit - is there something wrong with it? Otherwise why would everyone have it so heavily discounted right at the beginning of the season??

Enid - I think we'll start cheap and if we ever spend more than a night at a time in our field, maybe THEN consider the £800 tent lolol

I bought this one though I haven't tried it yet, but it's a great bargain.

quite often tents are discounted because they are last years colours or thry changed 2 cm on a window this season....
