Open the wine. Xxx

I did! Got to love the great British weather.. wish I had booked a week all inclusive in Greece but couldn’t justify the cost. Now spending a bloody fortune on entertainment anyway! 🤦‍♀️

Yes I’m Wales and it has rained constantly since we got here. Trying not to be miserable but it’s hard. Feel like I’m spending my holiday drying clothes.

Yes. I got back today after four nights in the rain in a tent. Back to my lovely bath and bed. But it gave me some thinking time away from my usual routine, and I got to see a fantastic starry sky one night. I had the right clothes and warm blankets etc and didn't get too wet, so I think with that proviso, camping in the rain is character-building, makes us resilient!

Yes, North Wales here.
As much as it's pretty miserable, we've still had a good day.

Yes keep reminding myself that it’s building resilience. On the plus side ds doesn’t care in the slightest about the weather and is having a whale of a time!

Yesterday I had to pack away a soaking wet polycotton tent, then put it up again a few hours later. And the design means you have to climb in the soggy thing to get the pole up. Not fun.

Overtheatlantic · 30/05/2025 21:22

I don’t get it. What’s so great about resilience?

Mysterian · 30/05/2025 21:26

It's an important life skill.

TeenLifeMum · 30/05/2025 21:29

Where are you? It was supposed to be awful here all week but it’s been really quite nice. Not bragging but surprised as in expected the worst. Friends went to Menorca last August paying ££££s for all 5 of them and it rained 6 out of 7 days. At least you haven’t payed crazy money - I’m usually quite chilled but that would have made me grumpy.

Mysterian · 30/05/2025 21:40

I was in Wick but now in Kirkwall, Orkney.

TourangaLeila · 30/05/2025 23:22

Nope! We cancelled. Who wants to pay to sit in a soggy wet tent in a muddy field?

flowerpaper · 31/05/2025 10:11

Lake District. Sitting in the tent waiting for it to stop raining. Then the kids will want to swim.

Everything is wet.

flowerpaper · 31/05/2025 10:15

The kids are super happy, despite the weather.

We’re camping for a month this summer in the Alps, and I needed to try out the new tent this week. The new tent is up to the challenge.

Dh went to our caravan in Dorset, ds2 and I didn't go because of GCSE's. What a shit week, of rain and some pleasant periods. I remember previous May bank holiday weeks over the last 20 years, in fact most of them, so boiling we had to have a fan to sleep. Where's all that now? 😡
