Booking last minute campsites

Hi all,

we have just bought a VW T30 campervan! As you can imagine, we are very excited and eager to try it. I have found a few campsites that we would like to try and they are coming out at £130 ish for three nights in Easter holidays. I am reluctant to book as if it is going to be raining for those three days, I know we won’t want to go. Seem like you can only get a refund if you cancel two weeks before which isn’t going to close enough to check weather. £130 is too much to us to lose.

How hard / easy is it to find availability on campsites last minute? Especially with hook up?

Any other top tips on where to go, or camping in a campervan is much appreciated. We have hired one several times to take festivals so we aren’t complete novices.

thanks in advance!

There's lots of sites which are walk up only, that's your best option for impromptu trips plus that's really expensive. I paid £10 a night last summer (tent not camper but the charge was the same for vans)

How do I find these cheap sites and walk ups? They all seem similar on Pitch Up. Thank you

Congrats on the new addition! I ♥️ our camper.

If you’re open minded about where you go, you could search pitchup close to the dates of travel for sites with hookup and availability. I don’t think campsites will be overrun in April - it’ll still be pretty chilly at night.

We spent two weeks travelling round Wales last October which was fantastic - Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia and Brecon Beacons are all gorgeous 😍

Where is your starting point/how far will you travel?
