How early in the year? I'm thinking of Easter and hoping it's earlier enough to avoid packed sites.

I usually get going in May.

Longer days, dryer less damp mornings in which to let the tent dry.

We may try Easter if the weather is kind. It tends to be quick weekend jaunts before May. I've done it in Feb/March and the cold & wet just makes it a chore.

DD is currently on her first camp off the year! Completely crazy...

We have Easter pencilled in, but will see in March.

I believee Easter is the busiest bank holiday of the year? It has also snowed at easter in the past. I feel you just have to look for a good patch of weather and just go

Don't mind the cold. I think maybe going for a child free site is key.
