Italy road trip in campervan

This spring DH and I are touring Italy for a few weeks in a VW camper. We will stay in campgrounds for the facilities and electric hookup. Has anyone done this recently and if so, any tips? Is it as easy as France where you can easily find and book great campsites online as you travel round? And do small towns generally have places to park so we can explore on foot? Thank you!

No idea sorry but that sounds amazing. What time of year are you thinking of going?

Sorry your post literally this "This Spring". Think either my eyesight or my comprehension is failing me...

Yes - loads of camper stops (parking spots with facilities) as well as campsites. It’s a great place to explore! If you’re driving down, take a look at Colmar, known as ‘Little Venice’, on the way.

Have a look on some of the Facebook groups, the Hymer one in particular has loads of well travelled members who will be happy to advise as many of the people with the larger Hymers go to Europe for months at a time

We have done it last summer and loved it! It was easy and smooth - many campgrounds and big parking outside cities so you can park your camper and walk/take the bus to explore the city. Do you know the app park4night? we use it all the time and it made our life so easy! You can find campsites based on your needs (power and all the other necessary facilities) and read reviews etc.
Italy is perfect with caper you are going to have the best time!

Thanks @LaurenRolly - that’s what I was hoping! We have Park4Night - in France I find PitchUp really good but it’s not that established in Italy. Sooo looking forward to it - I love our van 😊
