Site in the country

[Hopeful16]

I was wondering if anyone has stayed at any great sites that were more countryside than coastal. We are a family of 4 with DC 6 and 8 and hope to stay in August.
Any recommendations would be gratefully welcomed. ☺️

Not camping, but riverside cabins in Shropshire is fab! We've been twice and planning a third x

@cathyburke thank you but our 6yo has requested camping this summer. We've not been for a few years when I declared it was too much hard work with them not being as independent with washing, toileting, etc.
We used to love camping when it was just the two of us so hopefully I can find my enjoyment again. 🤞🏻

Herding Hill Farm has a children's petting farm. My dc loved it there.

Petruth Paddocks near cheddar is fabulous.

@Forgottenmyphone we have fortunately for us been to Northumberland lots and fancy trying somewhere new. I will keep these details for when we're ready to return though - thank you.

It’s walkable into Cheddar, with a decent sized supermarket. Plenty of fields for kids to play in. Toilets and showers are brilliant. Pizzas, fry ups and coffee on a weekend. I love it.

Shropshire is well worth a look great often overlooked county

Can even book a hot tub to be delivered, or bring your horse!
Relaxed space near to Ripon and the Dales ( and Lightwater Valley Adventure Park).

Glad you had a lovely time @Hopeful16 . It’s a few years since we went there but we cane back feeling exactly the same, the kids still talk about playing in the stream and the big birds of prey overhead

@Muchtoomuchtodoyes we enjoyed watching the kite and a breeding pair of buzzards. Happy children make a happy holiday. If you have any more recommendations please throw them my way. 😊

lovely site. Walking distance to Hay and shops and restaurants and pubs but also right by the River Wye for kayaking etc. you can in fact hire kayaks right next door
