looking for advice please on where best to stop on route and also what type of place to stop in. really don't want to spend anymore than we need to as only want a bed and shower for the night. keep looking but finding it hard to decide, we need a family room for two adults and two kids (10 years)thinking of staying around the Tours/ Saumur area. Does anyone have any ideas, thanks lots

We have stayed a few times at the Novetel in Chambray les Tours (a trading estate area on outskirts of Tours). You can get cheaper rooms but they do a family room which includes breakfast so for us (with teenagers) is cheaper than paying for 2 smaller rooms & buying brekkie at a cheaper place.

We don't eat in their restaurant at night though - we go round the corner to the Flunch, which is brilliant value (& DH gets his pitcher of beer!) and the kids love it as you can keep going to the buffet for veg/chips etc. You order the meat or other main course, and collect that (watch it grilled in front of you) then take plate to buffet to load up with side dishes.

There is also a Buffalo grill, Fish restaurant & Pizza Hut nearby.

B&B in france is a small chain with good family rooms here
