We desperately want to go and try out our new tent but weather forecast looks pants.
Shall we jsut go anyway?!

we went caravanning last week whilst friends of ours did camping. They have no dc's and they said it was the worst camping they have done! Was enough to put me off anyway!

Gobbledigook · 27/04/2008 21:50

Oh no! That doesn't bode well! Our friends put their tent up in the garden yesterday and slept out last night and they said they were nice and warm.

We are going caravanning tomorrow (not quite as weather-reliant as camping), it's forecast to rain so we are packing toys & books!

lilyloo · 27/04/2008 21:56

wew were fine caravanning withe the fire on yesterday was lovely , however last week was cold and raining !
Don't do it too soon it may put you off , my friends were the only ones on ths site !

maisemor · 27/04/2008 22:04

We are going next weekend as well (in a tent as well), and apparently so are hundreds of other people. Very hard to get us booked in anywhere, it being May holiday weekend.

lilolilmanchester · 27/04/2008 22:06

our "camping crew" are going to Coniston next weekend. We're fairweather campers, so depends on the weather and whether I have time/energy to dig out/wash all the camping gear from last year.

Lucycat · 27/04/2008 22:30

ooh what new tent do you have gdg?

yeh sod it, take your thermals, you'll be fine -we're off to Scotland!

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 22:32

PandaG · 27/04/2008 22:32

yep, we should be, have booked a site, and the forecast doesn't look too bad for next weekend atm. will be taking lots of layers though!

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 22:40

well we havent booked anything yet so we shall see

twinsetandpearls · 27/04/2008 22:47

WE were considering it, might even go down to Dorset as dd has not yet seen where we will be living, but we may book a B and B.

Lucycat - Outwell Vermont XL. Sooo excited!
We were looking at NOrth Wales for next week - may change that if it's sunnier/drier in another part of the country!

oooh lovely gdg!

I'd head for Home Farm on Anglesey or The Plassey near Wrexham if you want good sites in N Wales.

or if you headed down onto the Lleyn then Eisteddfa just outside Criciieth is great - the weather is always better down there and if it isn't ten it rarely 'sticks'.

we're staying in a friends field in Dumfries and Galloway - but using their dacilites - can't wait I think we may have to wrap up though

Fennel · 28/04/2008 13:26

We are supposed to be going camping at the weekend, camping rough on Dartmoor. But we won't go if it rains.

We have already cancelled one planned trip, 2 weeks ago when it was freezing at night. we are very much fair weather campers. We have all the gear and experience for extreme camping conditions but we don't actually do it.

Gobbledigook · 28/04/2008 13:33

We are going to Home Farm in June!

Wanted to go to Betws y Coed but it looks like with a week's worth of rain it will just be too boggy.

We are deffo fair weather campers!

We're going here hopefully (dependant on DH).

MrsBadger · 29/04/2008 09:23

nope

narrowboat with lovely radiators and a hot shower for us

LilRedWG · 29/04/2008 11:03

MrsB, can I just say you get damned wet opening the locks in the rain! Been there, done that, just as soggy!

MrsBadger · 29/04/2008 11:23

one lock in the whole weekend

one

deal is I drive boat with rain hat on and amuse dd in bouncy chair on while dh runs round with windlass

this is not our first time

LilRedWG · 29/04/2008 11:25

Ooo - lucky you! I have memories of last May's bank holiday with lots and lots of locks over the course of a week in torrential rain, with a coughing vomitting baby, in a narrow boat that resembled a laundry due to the steam from drying bodies/clothes.

Strangely though - it was still fantastic!
