Possibly the dreariest camping thread ever. What do you lot wear on your feet?

When you're camping obviously, and in the UK specifically, or even more specifically when you are going for a w/e camp in changeable weather conditions?

I have:
Walking boots
Walking shoes
Walking sandals
Flip Flops
Birkenstocks
Wellies
Trainers

I have other shoes too that are not suitable for camping.

Footwear in our camphold:

Mainly bare. Occasionally wellies. On beach those kind of surf-shoe things made out of wet-suit type stuff. That's me and dd.

DH would take everything you have listed and it would all get in the way all the time...

When dry, anything.

When wet, I like my pair of clog like shoes which are jolly useful cos you can just slip them off at the tent door. Otherwise you walk grass into the living area bit. So I'm afraid that's not of yours. Oh well, another shopping opportunity... HTH!

crocs around the campsite - I know I know but they are useful to shower in - and I wear them in rain too, can just swill them out and they dry quickly!

walking shoes/boots if planning on walking - walking shoes can double as trainers

wellies if lots of rain forecast

walking sandals too

If it is sunny and dry and not muddy, flip flops

If it is wet and muddy, loosly laced walking boots (so I can get them on an off easily)

Flip-flops, birkies or wellies - anythng that can easily be slipped off / exchanged at the tent door / sleeping compartment door.

lovely tent btw - is it 1 bedroom or 2?

Cheap plastic flip flops for the shower.

walking shoes/trainers for me and a pair of crocs for nipping to loo in etc.

The boys take wellies and (old) trainers and we usually keep old sandals/gym shoes in our camper van for paddling in rivers

In answer to your question - crocs.

I take other shoes for 'off-site' but onsite it's crocs all the way I'm afraid.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think (from current responses) I might be veering towards flip flops and walking boots or shoes depending on the weather.

I am very fearful that if I were to buy a pair of crocs I might accidentally end up wearing them all the time because of the high comfort factor (so I hear)

we have a monstrous Hartford XXL (and the L for weekends!)

Crocs are very comfy, although a fashion faux pas

Crocs are dutch? Getaway. I thought they were American imports.

Did you not see my extensive list of sensible and completely unfashionable footwear. Do I really need to add crocs to the collection.

The namechange thing is v tiresome. I don't feel at all right as farb. I will probably change back and then become farb for 'close to the knuckle' RL revalations (like they ever happen ha ha)

well yes they are American but Crocs Europe is based in the Netherlands here you go cool eh?

Crocs for 90% of the time.

Beautiful beaded flip flops for nights out

Trainers for days out in bad weather (think positive think positive )

Walking boots for hard core stuff like muddy festivals

well, DH was on the lookout on ebay for the hartford canopy...we had a really foul week ath the beginning of the hols last year and fancied more under cover space for cooking in - and as we have a big tent lots of people congregated in it.

He found a canopy, quite local to us but with a hartford l, footprint groundsheet and carpet as well. He won it all for a bargainous price, and we tried the smaller tent just the 2 of us, and really liked it. We had intented to sell it on and just keep the canopy, but decided to keep it.

anyway i do take my straightners away camping, so I must get some points back!

Oh I like your style. We NEEDED a canopy but whoopsy-daisy we seem to have accidentally bought a tent that comes with it.

I must remember that technique next time I have to buy a tent in less than honest circumstances.

Minum at beaded flip flops and nights out whilst camping. Your DC must be able to go out in the evening and remain in human form.

Lucycat, oh I don't either. I give a small stuff at the response of DH to the ever swelling list of camping kit that is absolutely essential.

oh yes you need headtorches - dh tried to test ours under the duvet - soon put paid to that idea I can tell you.
