Where to camp in France

We are planning our family holiday and planning on 9 nights camping in Holland, Germany and France. We have an idea where to camp in Holland and with Germany we are staying in the Mosel Valley which one of our favourite places which we have camped several times previously. We need some help with France, we are thinking maybe in the Normandy area but no idea, any suggestions? We are hoping to find a campsite with facilities and electric hook up. Thanks

The municipal campsite in Wimereaux just outside Boulogne may fit the bill. Walkable distance to small French seaside town & beaches. Great cliff top walks. Easy to drive into Boulogne for a brilliant aquarium and hypermarkets. Lovely small independent shops & restaurants in Wimereaux itself. We travel in France regularly and stay here for at least a couple of days every trip - have to get dog seen by a vet before we return

We are doing almost the same , .. going Strasbourg way from Chunnel ( have never camped in France previously so cant help there.but interested to see recommendations you have here.

OP where do you stay in Mosel Valley? , we'll probably be also going that way .

We really liked Camping Delftse Hout if you are going that way in Netherlands ( and Delft itself is fabulous .)

Hi Laska2Meryls

Oh thank you for the suggestion of Camping Delftse Hout, we liked the look and sound of this place so have just now have booked in for the first 5 nights. We are planning a day trip to Amsterdam whilst we are there.

We have decided not to camp in France this time and will do a little more research in the area and possibly book another time. We are then planning on travelling to little camp site in Cochem in the Mosel Valley, the place we love is a small campsite, a little dated but we love it, I will put the link in below, there is another campsite in the location across the river which possibly may be on par with Delftse Hout but I'm not sure of the name for that one.

Thanks all for the recommendations x

Thanks Jack1975. I will definitely look that up .

We walked into Delft a few times from Delfthoutse , its about a mile I think , but an easy walk ..

If you are going towards Amsterdam , I'd recommend you try Camping t' Venhop near Hoorn . it does have sound of road nearby but you can get trains from Hoorn to Amsterdam 30mins .. We have a campervan and just cycled into Hoorn from the site ( its about 3km)

If you haven't got an ACSI card for camping its definitely worth getting one.. cheaper to stay in site like Delfthoutse than with caravan club membership.

Hoorn is a really fab town and lots to see, and you can get a little steam train out Medemblick to the and then steam Boat back on the Alkmeer to Enkhuizen and mainline train back to Hoorn
