Emergency new tent (recommendations appreciated)

Hello all, thoughts appreciated on a good new tent for a family of three.

We bought a vango airbeam second hand a year ago and now one of the beams has split a few days before a camping trip. I've finally convinced my husband to buy a new tent (he favours tiny, hiking type tents but couldn't pass up the vango bargain!). We're thinking maybe the Coleman Weathermaster 4XL, it's expensive but has some nice features. Family size won't increase so I am all for investing in a good quality family tent. Any good recommendations? I've seen quite a few poor reviews for the waterproofing on Colemans ...but it has black out and air beams!!

thanks all

I’ve an air beam and honestly I wouldn’t buy another. They are great to put up but such a faff to put down and take up loads more space. I’d get a vango pole tent any day. That said the one you’ve picked looks excellent, I like the black out bedrooms and the “curtains”.

Also I am perpetually waterproofing my 1.2k vango and it still bloody leaks

They're huge aren't they?! Thanks, maybe we should just bite the bullet and get that one. I could really go down a rabbit hole of tent research...

Decathlon fresh and black in whatever size you fancy. Cheap, cheerful and excellent. You get an extra few hours sleep in then too.

The Coleman Weathermaster was a success! It's absolutely massive and the blackout bit felt like total luxury, we all slept until past 8 every morning. And of course, spent enjoyably time thinking how it could be done better next year... (bring a mallet and packing cubes!)

Hi

what’s your thoughts on putting up and transporting it?
my concern is packing size and pitching and wondering whether to go smaller rather than bigger.

thanks

We've got the larger one. I do absolutely love it but not sure I'd have another. It is so big and heavy to transport. I couldn't manage it on my own.

I have a Vango airbeam, I love it but hardly ever use it because it's so bulky.

If you are thinking easy hiking style tent, my suggestion is to try the Khyam quick erect system - various sizes available. The poles are integrated into the tent fabric. My three person dome tent takes about two minutes to put up (plus pegging out and guy ropes).
