I was just saying to my husband that never like staying on campsites were cars can drive on to the pitch for this reason. But then when you look at it in more detail the campsite is right next to a main road which is even scarier!

Wishing the campers a speedy recovery

Crash scene

Campsite car crash: Nine hurt in Newgale, Pembrokeshire

The car came off the road into the campsite at night and rolled into a tent and a group of people.

If the driver was speeding, under the influence, driving carelessly/recklessly or anything else which leads to charges, I damn well hope they have the longest possible sentence. In cases like this it's clearly just chance that there weren't multiple deaths. It's pure luck that the baby in his cot wasn't killed or maimed. Imo where it's pure luck that determines the casualty toll, there should be harsher sentencing.

Agree but it is also totally bonkers to see a campsite next to a road like that. Its an obvious risk.

Yes, not sure what you mean by the '...'

I meant nothing by it, other than leading on to the picture.

I had forgotten that three dots at the end of a sentence are often used in a wanky way on MN.

Oooops! Wrong thread!

@BlossomCloud agree, I certainly wouldn't camp there

It’s a campsite that comes with many risks - flooding a certain times of the year, storms brining over the huge pebbles put in for flood defence. The beach - well the sea - is slowing eroding the coast and it won’t be long before this road isn’t accessible. These are natural risk campers take when staying here but it’s also part of its beauty. There aren’t many sites so close to the sea.

In this case it was an inexperienced driver who has driven so dangerously that he’s managed to leave the road and cause devastating injuries. It’s so hard to mitigate for things like this because they are so out of the ordinary. Most locals know well enough to drive with caution on those roads. I hope all concerned a fast recovery.
