Coleman Big Cypress Tent

Does anyone have experience of this tent? We both camped loads as children and want to start taking DD for weekends and longer.

Basically, we want loads of living space (for when it rains), lots of light/windows, a SIG and easy to erect.

The only thing putting me off the Big Cypress is the fact that it seems from lots of posts here that some site will say it's too big and not accept it.

All and any advice welcomed please.

Hi peachy

I have We are going to bedgelert - I am so excited about that. Also going to a lovely little site in Devon which looks very pretty. Haven't booked the farm in Somerset yet but I know they'll fit us in.

What about you?

Breckenridge is indeed lovely, but double my budget Budget will be £150, for the reasons I stated earlier

Had 2 leaky Breckenridges last year - thought 1 failure was just bad luck (especially as it involved a week in the NE when it didn't stop raining for the first 4 days and the tent leaked in 6 places) and it was replaced without hassle, but we gave up when the replacement had holes in the roof....

Blimey virginia! Did hear a few vango's had issues, theys ay sorted now.

A good way to keep in budget LilRed is to choose the one you want at a show and then buy either last years model, or get the tent you love second hand a year old- Ebay selsl a lot of crap BUT if you know what you're after its fine (how we got the Tahoma). MArch- April is the time for that, as many people update their tent yearly (first time we haven't lOL). Also, many tent shops will be selling alst years ranges cheaply in the next few weeks so theyc an get the new models in.

Yeah, I think the place we're going to look tend to do that.

Another dumb question - I'm saying elec hook up isn't necessary, DH says he'd like it! Worth the outlay or are gas fridge as economical/good?

We don't bother and just use freezer packs. We have an electric cool bag that we can plug into the car if necessary but we don't have the space in the car for a big electric cool box or fridge.

Peachy · 26/02/2008 14:16

We have electric hook up nad have never used it (we were given it).

Buy fresh each day and use ice packs

Too much like hassle LOL

We went and looked at a couple of places today and really liked the look of the Outdoor Revolution VRX Scenic 4.2.

I doesn't have a SIG but it ticks all our other boxes and felt "right", as you said it would!

We came home and did some research and it seems to have good reviews (and we couldn't find any bad), so we've ordered one!

I'm very excited and want to go camping NOW!
