Blackout bedrooms vs air tent

We are looking at getting a large tent so we can go away as a family during the holidays when DS starts school in September.

We are torn between:

Option A - Blackout rooms and a large living space

Option B - Smaller living space, not black out but an air tent so much easier to put up with a toddler and 4 year old

Sadly budget can't stretch to both features.

Are the blackout rooms actually worth it or are the kids still going to be up at the crack of dawn anyway?

Any advice appreciated!

We’ve got a Berghaus air tent and it has black out bedrooms. They’re far from perfect but better than not having anything.

tunnel tents are a much better lay out ime, especially if (when) kids wake in the night or too early in the morning to be making noise.

It may be worth visiting a Decathlon store for a tent that has both options if there is one nearby - they do 2nd hand gear and the one in Chingford recently had £150 off an 8 man tent.

I have no opinion but do love tent shopping!
Our air one is great. We were advised that blackout ones can get hotter inside if we were to take it to warmer climates.
